Centris models of household penetration and demand for products and services are based on a consumer choice framework. Where appropriate, either binary or multinomial logistic specification are used. All Centris models incorporate detailed local variables in the estimation. Local variables are Census block group specific. For example, for models of video services, detailed information on the actual deployment of Fiber (e.g. Verizon’s FiOS) is included in the estimation. In areas where Fiber is deployed, the choice set available to consumers includes not only cable and satellite but also video supplied by the phone company.
Centris models are constructed from respondents to the Centris omnibus. Respondent models are then grouped and projected to all 208,000 census block groups. The projections to census block groups are then grouped by time (quarter) to form consistent time series.
